Pengcheng Li was born in 1999 in Jilin City, Jilin Province, China. A contemporary artist who describes himself as a “unicorn summoner,” he studied illustration at HAL in Japan. He is currently studying painting at the School of Continuing Education, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts.

Several of his works have been retained by the school and included in art teaching materials for the academy’s affiliated high school. His representative series, Unicorns Are Real, centers on a recurring winged unicorn. Across this selection, painted patterns, metallic reflections and pixel-like forms appear against clouds, water and cosmic settings.

For Li, art is a way to express himself, explore the spirit and enter into dialogue with the world. He hopes his work can offer spiritual comfort and a deeper sense of energy.

Unicorn Series

A white and blue winged unicorn fills a lavender ground. Triangles, circles and sun-like symbols travel across its body; a striped pink and yellow mane adds sharper accents.
