About artmotri

A different way of seeing.

A meeting place for artists, paintings and the people who connect with them.

WHO WE ARE

Artmotri connects artists, their work and the people who are drawn to it. We bring paintings together with space to look closely and discover a personal connection.

We begin with the work itself: the movement of a brush, the relationship between colours, the character of a surface. These details leave room for your own response.

Through enquiry, we welcome questions about materials, scale and the space a painting may enter. The details of each work can be explored in conversation.

HOW WE BEGAN

Our starting point is four painters: Cheng Xiaoping, Wang Yigang, Ma Jianchu and An Qibang. Their different approaches give Artmotri its first shape.

Bringing their work together opens connections between landscape, abstraction and expressive colour. A painting can be seen on its own, then encountered again alongside another artist’s practice.

We are building from this small group, with room for further artists over time. Our approach stays close to the work: thoughtful presentation, accessible context and an invitation to keep looking.

OUR ARTISTS

Cheng Xiaoping explores Chinese landscape through contemporary painting. Wang Yigang works with abstraction, bodily gesture and the physical character of paint.

Ma Jianchu’s oil and acrylic practice sits alongside a career in art education. An Qibang’s paintings bring vivid colour and energetic brushwork.

Each brings a distinct visual language to the collection. Explore their pages for a fuller introduction and the paintings currently presented. If a work stays with you, an enquiry can be the next step.
